From the Mouths of Babes

Where do they hear these things? I'm sure from us - though I don't necessarily want to admit that. First, some necessary background to set the scene.

The boys' after school care program has a video game room which is open for the last 45-60 minutes of the day (after 5 p.m. and some outside play time). Now, the boys know I don't want them in there at all - there are other rooms and other activities. I found them in the game room today after school and when we got in the car on the way to pick up Austin we were talking about how I don't care for them being in there, etc. T.J., ever the negotiator, was trying to bribe me by saying if I pick them up tomorrow (Friday) and they're not in the game room, that I would agree to take them to the vending machine to pick out something that was junk food.

My response was simply that if they could go an entire week without me catching them playing video games that on that final day we could perhaps (always leaving myself an out) hit the vending machine or maybe 7-11 for a slurpee. T.J. readily agreed and boldly proclaimed that he'd try to skip the forbidden room for 3 whole weeks - and I said just one at a time would be great. Just one week.

Tristan pipes in then, loudly lamenting:
"A week?! I just can't HANDLE that!"

Nice.
